The yellow crane was built in 1954 on behalf of the former Dubigeon shipyards, where it has been located since 1958. It has prefabricated elements for the construction of boats until 1987, when the yards closed. The city council bought it two years later, wishing to retain an important element of the industrial heritage of the city, integrates it into the Parc des Chantiers. It has a weight of 400 tons, a height of 43 meters and a lifting power of 80 tons. It undergoes a renovation of twelve weeks in 2006, the second in eleven years, including security, a relief of counterweight and 1.8 tons of paint. One of the key elements of the redevelopment of the island of Nantes, it is the destination point of the elephant ride of the 'Machines de l'Île'.
