Orsoy is a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Rheinberg on the left bank of the Lower Rhine. Translated, the word Orsoy means (spoken: in the dialect short and hard: Oschau) something like "horse meadow" (Rossaue).

Because of the Rhine promenade, its fortress walls and its historic buildings, Orsoy is a popular excursion destination, from where you can take the Orsoy-Walsum Rhine ferry to the Walsum district of Duisburg on the right bank of the Rhine.

The Rheintor designed by architect Helmut Hentrich in 1937 to protect against flooding

Wall thickness was partly 1.25 meters thick. The Rhine Gate was reworked in 1937 and today serves as a flood protection gate for the city of Orsoy. Here, the voluntary fire brigade has taken over the care and command of the Rhine Gate. When high water is expected, she closes the gate to prevent flooding. A visit is highly recommended.
