Grinzane Cavour is a municipality in the Langhe area, in Piedmont. The name pays homage to Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, who was mayor of Grinzane for 17 years. In Grinzane Cavour it is possible to visit the splendid medieval castle of Grinzane, still perfectly preserved.

Grinzane Castle was probably founded in the 13th century. The name was supplemented by the addition of Cavour to honor the long-time mayor and later founder of Italy, Count Camillo Benso von Cavour.
Grinzane Cavour is located on a hill in the middle of vineyards and hazelnut groves. It can be seen from afar. The castle can be visited. However, entry to the enotheca and the restaurant is free.
It gets really elitist every November when a truffle auction for charity takes place. A truffle weighing one and a half kilograms is sold for 125,000 euros.
