The Castello Sforzesco is a large fortified complex located in Milan just outside the historic center of the city. It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, who had recently become Duke of Milan, on the remains of a previous 14th-century medieval fortification known as Castello di Porta Giovia.

The castell is magnificent, powerfully built of bricks. The High Towers can be seen from afar. There is a beautiful fountain in front of the complex. There is a green strip around the castle that separates traffic.

The Castello Sforzesco is an impressive 14th-century building. In 1466, Galeazzo Maria Sforza had the interior of the castle expanded as a residence with a ducal court, surrounded by the fortified Rocchetta complex, a fortress within a fortress. A visit to the complex is a must.
