Injured storks are given veterinary care in the stork care station and nursed to health, young animals thrown out of the nest are rescued and raised by hand if necessary. Several hundred storks have been rescued and successfully released into the wild so far. Handicapped animals, most of which have lost parts of their beak, wing or leg as a result of collisions with high-voltage power lines or wind turbines, enjoy permanent care here. But even these handicapped long-term patients regularly raise healthy offspring on ground nests.
