Until the Beltringharder Koog was diked, the pumping station was a pump station for draining the marsh. Today it is private and also contains a national park station.

Despite its small size - the former pumping station is probably the smallest natural history museum in the north - the exhibition offers a nice overview of the flora and fauna of the Beltringharder Koog. The national park station also serves as a contact and information point for those interested.
