With a length of 803 meters, the Rhine Bridge of Emmerich is the longest suspension bridge in Germany. It was inaugurated on September 3, 1965 after 40 months of construction. The bridge and the supports weigh approximately 41,400 tons, which roughly corresponds to the weight of 30,000 cars.
