The Ambonezenbos is a piece of forest with a turbulent past. More than 300 repatriated Ambonese - refugees from Indonesia, now better known as Moluccans - found temporary shelter here in the 1950s.
Memory of the Moluccans, who first settled there as refugees and later were expelled again.
The Amboner, also known as Südmolukker, are an Indonesian ethnic group of mixed Austronesian-Papuan origin. They are mostly Christians or Muslims. The Ambonese are from the island of Ambon in Maluku, an archipelago east of Sulawesi and north of Timor in Indonesia.
