The ruins of Dippach are freely accessible. The ruins are popularly known as "The Wall". In July, the annual children's theater takes place in a medieval setting, followed by a cozy wine festival. Hiking trails: Castles and palaces hiking trail, adventure tour - on the Huttenweg around Ermershausen.

Story

The former moated castle of Dippach originally belonged to the Counts of Henneberg and, after several other owners, was sold on to the Lords of Hutten zu Birkenfeld in 1725. At the beginning of the 18th century the residence is said to have been in good condition and functioned as a fortified pond house.

The ruin is a good example of one of the once so numerous, rather modest seats of the lower nobility in Franconia. Actually, the complex was more of a lightly fortified courtyard that would not have withstood a serious attack for long.

In the peasant wars around 1525, the castle with the chapel was therefore destroyed by the "pilch of picture houses". The "Bildhäuser Heap" belonged to a large number of groups that undertook organized raids against the castles and monasteries.
