The "green meadow" Grainau in the south on the border with Austria is first documented in 1305. Tourism is very important here - the townscape is particularly characterized by agriculture, mining and forestry. Grainau also has a stop to the Zugspitzbahn & from the nearby Eibsee a cable car leads directly to the summit of the Zugspitze. A particularly alpine 🏞️ highlight is the nearby Höllentalklamm in the Wetterstein Mountains in addition to the Zugspitze.
