Neuhirschstein Castle was built between 1892 and 1894 in the Neo-Renaissance style on the remains of a 10th-century castle. During World War II, the castle was confiscated by the SS and used as an art warehouse and prison. During the GDR era, it served as a children's convalescent home and sanatorium.
"Landscape-defining castle building on a rocky hilltop on the Elbe opposite Diesbar-Seußlitz, of medieval origin, built to secure the border mark, after it burned down in 1637 in the Thirty Years' War, mostly rebuilt, outwardly simple, ring-shaped complex with tower, architectural, local, horticultural and regional historical significance." de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Kulturdenkmale_in_Hirschstein#Neuhirschstein
