The royal tombs of Haassel are monuments of the Neolithic, the 3rd millennium BC.

The extensive processing area of the Steingräber ranges with its numerous local groups from the Mediterranean over coastal regions of Western Europe to northern Germany and southern Scandinavia. Those ideas that underlay the construction of the stone tombs must have spread across the lake and along the coast.

Of the once numerous stone graves (there were more than 200 in 1846 in the district of Uelzen), only a few have survived.

The three Haaßeler graves are the last records of 36 such plants, which lined up in a wide arc.

The Royal Tombs near Haaßel are quietly located between Altenmedingen and Niendorf I – three impressive megalithic tombs from the Neolithic period, surrounded by fields and forests. A truly "legendary" place for a short respite. An old sheepfold, with all sorts of information about the tomb complex, also serves as a shelter.
