Old and new Kleiststein on the site of the Battle of Kunersdorf (Seven Years War 12.08.1759, the Prussian army Frederick the Great was defeated in this battle by the Austro-Russian army)
Ewald Christan von Kleist (poet of the Enlightenment) was severely wounded in this battle on 12.08.1759 (right leg crushed by shotgun balls, injured right hand). Until 13.08.1759 lay on the battlefield. On 24.08.1759 he died as a result of the injuries in Frankfurt (Oder). There is also his grave monument.
At the site of the battlefield, where he remained injured, contemporaries erected the "old Kleiststein" stone. In 1999, opposite the "new Kleiststein" was erected, on which a marble plaque was attached. This was destroyed after a short time found in the environment. The subsequently attached plastic board was destroyed. The information board was already found damaged in the environment and was demolished after re-attachment. Kleiststein is the end of the Kleist route.
