    The gallery-style Dutch windmill from 1837 was renovated in 1985 and is ready for operation.

    It is currently for sale and was previously used by private individuals and as a vacation home.

    To avoid confusion with other places of the same name, the name Lindaumühlenholz or Lindau-Mühlenholz is often used (especially in old documents). This is because the main road that runs through the Lindau district is called Mühlenholz.

            Although nothing of this remains inside, the listed monastery mill in the Lindau district of Aeschach is the last reminder of the importance that the area once had for the city and the surrounding area. At that time, the Ach was an important energy supplier and the mills were not only grain producers, but also production sites for "consumer goods", as we would probably call them today.

              Man uses the power of nature

              The monastery mill was built in 1725. As the name suggests, the church was involved: a Lindau abbess was the "builder" and had the mill built here. The fact that milling took place at so many locations here in Aeschach was due to conditions that are no longer the same today. The course of the Ach, accompanied by the other Töbel streams, made it possible to operate several locations here that were dependent on water power.

              Even back then, people liked to intervene in nature. Next to the monastery mill you can still find a fish pond today. The mills were often built a little away from the main water flow - and their own mill canal at the same time. Even though there are no records of this, experts assume that the fish pond is an indication that the water was channeled here to operate the mill. There is no other access to the water
