Fort des Arros refers to defensive units built by the Germans during the Second World War.
These fortresses and bunkers are built directly on the beach to protect the land from any intrusion.
Today, the bunkers are freely accessible but covered with paintings and other inscriptions which are of course not from the period.

If you are interested in this part of history, a trip here is worthwhile. You should take 1-2 hours. There are sometimes guided tours during the season (also translated in German). The facility was uncovered again in private initiative and work, making many bunkers accessible. There is a brochure about the system in German, French and English.
