    The Gaubahn once connected the Taubertal with the Maintal. Today there is a beautiful bike path on the former railway line. Simply wonderful for cycling.

        This is the easiest way to leave the Main Valley in the direction of "Ochsenfurter Gau". Very moderate climb, usually with a tailwind to Acholshausen. The first part is very shady, good on hot days.

              Have cycled the first section of the Gaubahn cycle path from Ochsenfurt. A pleasure!
              It's going up all the time, but very moderately. First past the "Fuchsenmühle". The Thierbach flows parallel to it. Fresh wild garlic smelled on the way.
              After about 4.5 km you could see the former station area (demolished in 1983) of Tückelhausen. Above and to the right is the former Carthusian monastery, which today houses a Carthusian museum.

                        The Gaubahn cycle path is an approximately 37 kilometer long cycle path in Tauberfranken. Around 26 kilometers of this run along the route of the former Gaubahn. It connects the Main Cycle Route near Ochsenfurt with the Taubertal Cycle Route near Bieberehren.

                            The Gaubahn Cycle Path is an approximately 37-kilometer-long cycle path in Tauber-Franconia. About 26 kilometers of this runs along the route of the former Gaubahn. It connects the Main Cycle Path near Ochsenfurt with the Tauber Valley Cycle Path near Bieberehren.

                            Between 1907 and 1992, until its closure, the Gaubahn connected the Tauber and Main valleys. The last passenger train ran on the line on May 3, 1992. Dismantling of the tracks began in 1994, before the expansion of the cycle path began in 1996. Between 2010 (Acholshausen – Baldersheim) and 2011 (Ochsenfurt – Acholshausen and Baldersheim – Bieberehren), the former track bed was paved.
