There is a European nest in the ridge of the roof
hornet. The European hornet is by far the largest wasp in the Netherlands and therefore an impressive appearance. This species is not difficult and never comes close to our sweet tooth.
In the vicinity of the nest they may feel threatened and attack, but otherwise never. This beautiful insect is unfortunately often confused with its (smaller) cousin: the invasive Asian hornet, which is seen as a threat to bees.
