The Moselle flows into the Rhine at the Deutsches Eck. In 1897 an artificial promontory was heaped up here, on which a monumental equestrian statue of Emperor Wilhelm I was erected. This monument was not only intended to commemorate the emperor, but also his involvement in the founding of the German Empire - hence the name "Deutsches Eck".

In fact, the mouth of the Moselle was also referred to as the German Corner earlier: In the late Middle Ages, the Teutonic Order built the Deutschherrenhaus near the mouth as the administrative headquarters. At that time the estuary was called "Deutscher Ordt", but it soon became "Deutsches Eck".

The goal of the Moselradweg has been reached.
Here the Mosel flows into the Rhine.
The headland (also called German Eck) is artificially piled up.
On which stands the Kaiser Wilhelm monument.
From there you also have a beautiful view of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which can be reached by a cable car.
