The name of the monastery does not come from Rohia Monastery, as it might be, but from the name of a nearby creek.
On the site of the current monastery, a monastery functioned in the first half of the eighteenth century, but no exact information is known about it. It is believed that the old monastery was abolished by authorities or unbelievers in the village. It may be that General Bukow's troops, who have walked numerous countless Orthodox churches and monasteries, have gone past the hearth of this monastery before it is robbed and burned.
It is said that, at the time of a long drought, the monks of the monastery left for the country to gather food. Then, many locals without fear of God would rob the monastery and burn them. On the return, when the monks found the church made of ash, they would have cursed the village and would have commanded the earth not to grow oaks.
Until today, the village of Boiereni has crossed several times through fires and floods. As for the oak that surrounds all the neighboring villages, they barely see them in Boiereni. It is believed that the curse was spoken on a Friday. For this, as a sign of repentance, on Friday, the faithful in the village do not work the earth.
The old Rohita monastery, destroyed between 1761 and 1762, was re-established in 1993 by the Rohia Monastery. On the site of the former monastery there is a stone cross, once laid in 1904. On the cross is written: "Pray and work (work)!"
The desire to restore the monastery was first by the priest Emil Man, from the village of Boiereni. Thus, in 1985, during Communism, with blessing from Justinian Chira, the abbot of Rohia Monastery, Father Emil began building a church.
