The Gotthard is probably the mountain about which there are the most myths and the most Swiss traffic history to be told. The history of the Gotthard route is one of the long struggle and triumph of men over wild nature. If you travel over the Gotthard Pass today, you avoid the traffic jam in front of the tunnel portals on the motorway, and you also get one of the most breathtaking views in Ticino. Either you drive on the longest historical Swiss monument, the Roman cobblestone street 'Tremola' with its hairpin bends, or you choose the newer street. On this there is a lookout point with a kiosk and terrace above Airolo, where you can take a break and enjoy the panorama over the Leventina. The ride over the Gotthard allows you to discover historical cultural heritage that you would otherwise miss.

On the Gotthard Pass there are several small lakes, various restaurants, a museum - so there is usually something going on. Also nice view Rtg Lucendro and Ticino.
