Once a fishing island, later part of Deutsche Werft AG, and today a popular destination for the Finkenwerder population, this is how the Gorch Fock Park on the south bank of the Elbe can be described in a few words. It was named after the local poet Johann Kinau, who was born in Finkenwerder in 1880 and published under the pseudonyms Gorch Fock, Jakob Holst and Giorgio Focco. As one of the few green spaces in Hamburg on the south bank of the Elbe, the Gorch Fock Park offers an unusual view of the Hanseatic city. The green ribbon of Schröders Elbpark, Hindenburgpark, Jenischpark, Hirschpark and Baurs Park can be seen along its entire length. And while you can rarely catch a glimpse of one of the magnificent villas on the north bank of the Elbe from the
Elbchaussee because they are shielded by huge trees or massive gates, they can be wonderfully viewed from the Gorch Fock Park.

In addition to the beautiful views, the Gorch Fock Park also offers a circular path

with plenty of seating, sports fields and probably one of the most beautiful outdoor pools in Hamburg. While a rather quiet spot awaits visitors here in the park,

the adjacent Rüsch peninsula offers the possibility of more active uses.
