The cycle path along the Altmühl and the Main Danube Canal naturally also takes you past the confluence with the Danube.

There is not really anything worth seeing here at this point, industrial chimneys are not particularly great. You can see a lot more in the town of Kelheim itself or in the surrounding villages.

You should take a boat trip from Kelheim to Weltenberg Monastery through the Danube Gorge anyway, there are really great things to see there (and a Klosterbräu.)

The cycle path continues along the Danube past picturesque villages and towns to Regensburg and of course further in the direction of Passau-Vienna.
Overall quite nice and also good to drive, even if it is often quite dusty.

There are many highlights the cycle path from Rothenburg o.d.T. along the Altmühl to Kelheim, where the senses are really satisfied.
