Between 1756 and 1817 there was a glassworks on the Nová louka meadow. The house was later bought by the famous glassblower from the Riedel Jizera Mountains and converted into a hunting lodge by Count Clam-Gallas in 1844.
The Nová Louka hunting lodge, also known as Šámalova chata, was built from the remains of an old glassworks in 1844 by the Clam-Gallas noble family. In 1930 the castle became the seat of the forest administration. Šámalova chata is named after Přemysl Šámal.
