Since 2023, the CDT (and the Colorado Trail Collegiate West Alternate) leads along a non-motorized single-track section between Texas Creek and Lake Ann Pass. This new(er) trail is more scenic and even a little shorter than the old CDT. South of this junction, there is plenty of flat terrain to spend the night.
