The current parish church stands on the same site as the older church, also dedicated to Saint Cassian and, since the 16th century, to Saint Hippolytus. Its small size and growing population prompted the parish priests of the first half of the 19th century to ask the municipal community of Vanzago for financial assistance to build a larger church. Reconstruction began in 1858 and was immediately used for all parish services.
