This is a beautiful remote stretch of the CT, between the Flume and Samelius Trails, that winds through tall grass and Ponderosas, with occasional white spruce in cooler pockets. As you climb higher in elevation, you’ll find rocky outcrops with beautiful distant views of Mount Rushmore, Mount Baldy, and Black Elk in the distance. It’s an ideal place to find your spot, take a break and enjoy the view. Wildlife is abundant, so keep an eye out for deer and the occasional elk or coyote, especially early in the morning.
