The signboard states that it was first founded in 632 during the reign of King Jinpyeong of Silla, but it is said to have actually been founded during the reign of King Munjong of the late Goryeo Dynasty.
This is one of the mountain hermitages on Mount Palgongsan that cannot be accessed by car.
