St. Mary's Church in Wismar was once the city's main parish church and is considered one of the most important examples of North German Brick Gothic architecture. Its construction began …
The church was badly damaged during World War II and later demolished after the war. The tower is all that remains. The floor plan of the rest of the church is shown in front of the tower. As far as I know, it's sometimes possible to climb the tower. It's best to check beforehand.
St. Mary's Church Tower. A sad but worth seeing place. More of a memorial than a church. The place seems somewhat empty, just the foundations... 💥 (1960s GDR) If you want, you can climb the steps of the tower with a guide. But it's not that spectacular. Because there's only one line of sight. And in front of your eyes 👀 window panes. 💁My recommendation is therefore to visit the observation deck of St. George's Church. If you don't want to climb stairs... there's an elevator and a clear view in all directions.
