Oedenberg emerged as the seat of a servant family on imperial soil. The first mention goes back to the year 1287. Nuremberg patrician families have lived in Oedenberg Castle since 1304. The small mansion is now a restaurant. The castle was first mentioned in 1177 as a Scottish monastery. It burned down completely during the Margravial War in 1553 and was rebuilt as a hunting lodge around 1730. The hamlet was occupied by Prussia in 1796. In 1865 the castle became the property of the Fensel family. The restaurant, which also has its own butcher's shop, is run by the Fensel family in the 6th generation. Oedenberg went to Bavaria in 1810. In 1843 the Erlangen district transferred the place to Lauf. On July 1, 1971, he joined the city of Lauf.[2]
