    The present manor house was built in the 17th century on the foundations of a 15th century castle. It is surrounded by a ring wall and outer ditch, which dates from the time of the castle, which is unique on Rügen.

      Arguably the oldest family seat on Rügen is located in Granskevitz, near the church village of Trent. The ancestral seat of the von Platen family is said to have been built here as early as 1170. Today, it is considered one of the earliest ancestral seats of Rügen's noble families.

      Presumably built as a castle, the complex is surrounded by a rectangular rampart with a surrounding moat. The rampart and moat were provided with a drawbridge on their south side.

      The foundations and cellars of the manor house date from the end of the 15th century. The cellars were walled up before 1507 after the burial of plague victims.

      The two current floors of the building were elaborately constructed in the 17th century. Extensions, such as a tower upper story, were added in the 18th century.

      The imposing structure rests on a massive boulder foundation, whose rising walls incorporate numerous fieldstones. The round stair tower, with its octagonal upper floor and its Italianate dome, is a striking element of the building. The windows and roofs have been restored to their original state. The brick structure is plastered and features decorative geometric elements along the outer edges.

      The ramparts, which are up to 6 meters wide, are lined with 300-year-old linden trees. The manor house is now privately used; only the old ramparts are open to the public.

        The well-maintained grounds are part of the "Nordsaat Agrar GmbH" estate. The farm manager lives in the attractive building. Unique to all of Rügen: it features a moat with a circular rampart. No wonder, given that the current manor house was built in the 17th century on the foundations of a 15th-century castle. The property has had a typical history, including expropriation by the Soviet Army, nationalization during the GDR era, and reacquisition by Nordsaat in 1991.
