The listed Schmausenbuckturm stands on the Schmausenbuck (390 m above sea level), a survey on the eastern edge of Nuremberg. The area is named after the red beer brewer Georg Schmaus, who bought the area in 1670 from the city. The whole area is protected landscape area and lies in the middle of the Lorenzer Reichswald. The former Reuhelberg, which consists of several crests, was named after the brewer Georg Schmaus (1619-1682), who bought the grounds in 1670 from the city of Nuremberg.
