This area could have remained forever the "Kameshki forest wasteland", but on May 30, 1892, the board of the "Nikanor Derbenev and Sons Manufactory Partnership" reported to the general meeting of shareholders that it had purchased a part of the wasteland near the Novki station of the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod Railway with an area of 77 dessiatines for 7,750 rubles with the purpose of building a mechanical weaving factory with 300 looms. It should be noted here that this was not the first purchase of parts of the "Kameshki forest wasteland" by the Derbenevs, Ivanovo manufacturers. The first plot of 38 dessiatines was purchased by Nikanor Derbenev in 1873 and is mentioned in his will to his sons in 1886. By 1892, the partnership already had a developed cotton-printing production in Ivanovo-Voznesensk, but for the stable operation of the full production cycle (spinning, weaving, finishing) there was not enough spinning and weaving capacities. For these purposes, a weaving factory with 360 looms was built on the acquired wasteland in the summer of 1892, where "both fuel and labor were cheaper than in the city of Ivanovo-Voznesensk." Thus, the date of May 30, 1892 became the starting point in the history of Kamenskovo.

By this time, the problem with the Orthodox church in Kamensk had become acute, since other churches were located at a considerable distance from the factory settlement. On October 3, 1904, the Derbenevs laid the foundation of a stone church in honor of the Ascension of the Lord.

The creator of the project for the future church was the diocesan architect Nikolai Dmitrievich Koritsky. During its preparation, it was necessary to obtain approval from the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod Railway Administration, since the church building was supposed to be built near the railway line. A request sent to this department received a response stating that there were "no obstacles from the Administration" to the construction of a church at the Novki station by the "Nikanor Derbenev and Sons Manufacturing Partnership" near the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod Railway alienation zone. On September 9, 1904, the Advisory Board of technicians of the Construction Department of the Vladimir Provincial Government approved the project, and a month later, the masons laid the foundation of the future church. The majestic building of the Church of God, made of red brick in the so-called "Russian" or pseudo-Russian style, with amazingly beautiful decorative header masonry, was erected on the highest point of the young settlement.
