Near Oriola, but on the other side of the Alvito Dam, we find this Manueline and Baroque church, consisting of a nave and a chancel with an interior vaulted ceiling. The original building, dating from the 12th century, was donated by King Dinis to the Order of the Trinity. The current building dates from the early 16th century.
A Commandery of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity, the original church underwent a profound architectural renovation during the reign of King Manuel, giving it its current appearance, with a ribbed vaulted ceiling. In the second half of the 18th century, the church was adorned with Baroque altars near the triumphal arch and, later, with a Rococo main altarpiece. Currently, it is completely in ruins.
