The Chemin de halage is the former canopy or towpath along the Rivière de Pont-l'Abbé between the Quai Saint-Laurent at the mouth of the Rivière and the old trading port of Pont-l'Abbé. In the past, Haleurs (Treidelleute) dragged the freighters upriver on the path. The Chemin de halage is now a popular walking and cycling path right on the banks of the Rivière.
