Fort aan de Klop was built between 1850 and 1852. During that period, the fort served to protect the Klopvaart flood canal and the lock. After the construction of the Work at Maarsseveen, this function became redundant and the fort was used as a storage and supply post and defense work. The fort took its current shape in 1850.
You will currently find cozy catering establishments and even group accommodations for overnight stays.
