The church of St. Helena was built in a uniquely beautiful location on a hill with a stunning view of the Latemar, Rosengarten and Schlern mountains in the 12th century.

Inside is one of the masterpieces of the Bolzano school of painting from the 15th century. Many of the wonderful wall paintings are still very well preserved, especially inside in the apse and in the vaults.

The facade of the church shows a depiction of St. Christopher and on the south wall there are interesting images of Mary with the baby Jesus and the three virgins Catherine, Barbara and Margaretha.

The church is also famous because it has the oldest bell in the entire region.

Old traditions say that the church stands on silver steps. Presumably because there used to be mine tunnels in the area.

The church is usually open every day. The key is kept in the courtyard right next door.
