Fantastic climb that weaves it's way up the hillside, a narrow single track unlikely to be used by many apart from farm vehicles, I didn't see a soul on there even though I went up on a nice sunny day. The reward is stunning views, peace and quiet and then a lovely descent.

#131 of the Simon Warren's Another 100Climbs begins just after the bridge that crosses the River Manifold and climbs up the valley side to the junction with Stable Lane. It is just under 2 km long with an average gradient of 6.2% that is 16.8 at it's maximum. Challenging at the bottom through two hairpin bends the inside of which are much steeper than the 16.8% reported max gradient. Once past these you are out out of the trees and on to another tough section of deteriorating road which follows a dry stone wall. Stick with it through this part as a short descent offers a chance of recovery before the final short ramp to the cross roads.

Great little climb with a nice Switchback, that will take you out of the Manifold Valley to either Astonefield or Wetton
