In the Middle Ages, there was a moated castle in the area where Niederweiden Castle now stands. From 1693/94 the moated castle was converted into a hunting lodge by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach for Ernst Rüdiger von Starhemberg, which Prince Eugen von Svoyen acquired in 1725. However, the palace was given its current appearance under Maria Theresa around 1765.
Since 2016 exhibitions have been shown in the castle together with Schloss Hof.
The baroque game kitchen from the time of Prince Eugen - can be rented for private parties and celebrations as well as meetings and conferences.
