The creation of Lake Gébárti dates back to the second half of the 20th century—a period in which the desire for natural recreational spaces for the urban population became increasingly important. Work began in 1976, and on August 20, 1979, a symbolic date in the Hungarian festive calendar, the artificial lake was ceremoniously opened to the public.
