The Vilsalpsee is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Tannheimer Tal, if not in the whole of Tyrol. Nestled in a nature reserve and surrounded by towering mountains, it offers you a unique panorama. The way here is simple and well developed, making it suitable for the whole family.

If you like, you can take the bus from the north shore or return to Tannheim with a tourist train. At the bus stop you will also find the Fischerhütte restaurant and the Gasthof Vilsalpsee.

At the time of my visit (3.6.2018) unfortunately a small section of the circular route was closed. The sign at the beginning of the trail was unfortunately so small and inconspicuous that I did not see it. Thus, I have unsuspecting the way to the gate with the "locked - sign" gone and then I turned back to take the path on the other side of the lake to the Vilsalpe. From the other side I have seen that several people have walked there despite the "locked sign". On my way back around the lake, there were more people, so I also made my way along the closed path. At one point, he became so narrow and muddy, as a snowfield and some boulders on the way sticking out, that with stroller, wheelchair or walker the section can not pass. Even with a bike it was very tight. As a pedestrian with a little surefootedness it is already possible, but everyone has to decide for themselves ...!

A fantastic alpine lake on which you can ride very nice rowboat. We have the tour this week, 30.08.2016 made with bike and child trailer starting from Schattwald with the aim of the Vilsalpe. Lies at the bottom of the lake. On foot from Tannheim an easy hike without significant altitude. We recommend!

A deep blue lake in a nature reserve and all around the mountains - a hike to Vilsalpsee is one of the most beautiful excursions in the Tannheimer Tal. The special thing about it: the way to the Vilsalpsee is also suitable for less experienced hikers and even for families with small children or prams.
