historical data
The history of Schloss Höch goes back to the 11th century. The current horseshoe shape and the rich furnishings of a so-called "Salzburg Residence" were not given to the palace until the 17th century. In the 800 years of its ownership history, Höch Castle was essentially owned by only four families, which were also of regional historical importance and of which the last three, the Kölderer, the Jocher and the Plaz, were related and formed a continuous succession of ownership over many centuries. The continuity of the dynasties only broke when it was sold to Alois Rohrmooser and later when it was taken over by the municipality of Flachau.
