Lissewege, one of the 10 most beautiful villages in Flanders!

Lissewege, also known as the white village, is located about 5 km from the Flemish coast and 12 km from historic Bruges.
The imposing 13th century church of Our Lady of Visitation towers high above the polders and is in itself a reason to visit the village.

The old white painted houses along the picturesque old Vaartje have been leaning against each other for centuries like a row of witnesses from times gone by.

People come, both in summer and in winter, to enjoy the authentic character

and also like to be spoiled gastronomically in the various restaurants and eateries with a name and fame.

There is even an authentic candy store with 60 types of old-fashioned candy.

Staying overnight is a must! You can stay affordably in various hotels and B & Bs.

In the former rectory, more than 200 statues of saints keep watch in their own 'Saints Museum', unique in Flanders!

And just outside the village centre is the largest medieval storage barn in Europe on the grounds of the former Cistercian abbey Ter Doest.

As an extra, during the summer months in Lissewege, visitors also get a free open-air exhibition

and you can view the village and abbey history in the recently opened Visitors Centre.
