👉 Directly at the entrance to Reipoltskirchen Castle is an artfully designed iron gate that resembles an open history book. The metal plaque is engraved with important milestones and dates in the history of the moated castle – from its first mention in the Middle Ages, through periods of destruction and reconstruction, to its current use as a cultural site. The gate combines art and history in a special way: On the one hand, it tells of the castle's eventful past, and on the other, it is itself a modern work of art that invites visitors to pause and reflect. This makes the castle's history tangible and vivid, even before entering the actual building.
