Located on a small island in the Vivar Channel, it is named after Ali Pasha Tepelena, a local ruler who resided there around 1820. The origins of the complex date back to before 1718, but the current fortress was rebuilt in 1819. The fortress is surrounded by water and can only be reached by boat.
