The beginnings of the mansion, which probably rises to Roman fortifications, date back to the 12th century. At that time built as a fortified Tiefenburg.
Today a winery with sales and a dignified restaurant (in the castle). Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The castle complex presumably originated from a Franconian estate, originally built on a Roman site. What is certain is that the castle already existed as a defensible moated castle in the 13th century.

The castle can generally only be viewed from the outside (it is not a museum).
Incidentally, there was also an "upper castle" in Neuweier – where the church stands today. Unfortunately, nothing remains of it.
