The foundation of the stone building was laid on July 18, 1906. The new building was consecrated on November 2, 1908 by the rector of the district, Father Fyodor Nikonovich. This luxurious church today ranks among the best Orthodox buildings of this type in Latvia, both in architecture and design. According to some estimates, it is the largest rural church in the entire Baltic region.
