The cliffs of Fécamp are white chalk cliffs that border the sea on the Côte d'Albâtre, in Normandy. They offer a spectacular and varied landscape, sculpted by the elements. They are also the place of a rich history, marked by fishing, resistance and spirituality.
The awe inspiring sheer white cliffs towering above the beach and narrow line of houses on either side of the quaint town stimulated artists for generations. In particular Claude Monet, who lived and travelled in the region, is closely associated with the painters' attempts at capturing the landscape.
