Anyone who wants to see how the indigenous people of Lombok (the Sasak) live is in good hands at Sembalun Lawang. It's possible to tour the houses with a guide, or explore on their own. In addition, the nearby lookout point, located on a small hill, offers beautiful views of the surrounding plateau.
