The classicist building is located high above Lake Schwerin on its east bank. Unfortunately, it can no longer be used as a navigation mark for water sports enthusiasts on Lake Schwerin, because the tall trees around the church almost completely cover it.
The view from the Görslower church on the lake is unique!
In 1842 the Göslow landowner Georg von Behr commissioned the building of the new church. The parsonage Pinnow objected to the planned straight line of sight to the manor house, in which one saw a too strong secular control by the patron saint symbolized. The disputes were resolved late and the church could not be consecrated until 1846 after the builder's death.
The building is a simple rectangular structure with an attached polygonal apse in the east and a 17 m high tower in front of it in the west. Inside, in addition to a beautiful wooden coffered ceiling and the delicate stucco on the boxes, the shell vault of the apse, which is painted blue according to Schinckel's model and richly decorated with 250 gold-colored stars, can be seen. The nave has arched windows and is flat covered. The tower rises about one floor above the roof of the chapel and is flat.
At the beginning of the 1990s the church was in a pitiful structural condition. The interior renovation was completed in 1996 and the exterior renovation in 2001.
Due to its flexible seating, the Görslower Church is particularly suitable for some events. Traditionally, Taizé devotions and concerts take place here. The parish also celebrates its annual outdoor worship service here.
