On the 1,043 meter high Plattenberg is an ancient observation tower from 1913, which you can still visit. Worth seeing here are the so-called Wolfspinge, impressive canyons, which were created by sunken shafts of mining and today are paradoxically protected as natural monuments. The Wolfspinge is located on a nature trail southwest of the mountain summit.

With the observation tower and the small kiosk, the Plattenberg is an excellent resting place on a hike on the Anton-Günther-Weg. The wooden tower once belonged to a hotel on the mountain, which was demolished in the 1970s. Residents from the surrounding villages campaigned for the preservation and restoration of the tower, so you can still enjoy the magnificent view from the tower today.
The tower and the kiosk are open daily in summer and the rest of the year from 9 am to 5 pm on the weekend.
